Hello! Welcome to the new Blog!

Hello Friends!

My name is Emily Crabtree and I am the founder of the Tri-State Native American Flute Circle.

A quick bio: TSNAFC, give or take a month or two, has been meeting for about a year and a half! We meet the 3rd Saturday of every month. We usually meet in Smith Music Hall on the campus of Marshall University, room 123, in the atrium connecting SMH and SH, or on the lawn of Smith Music Hall from 12pm- 2pm. All updates are listed on our Facebook page or sent by email.. and hey!.. and now, they will be listed on our blog! :)

Because of our convenient meeting location at the University, our circle is readily available for the tri-state area of WV, OH, and KY. Our members are both students from Marshall University and members of the tri-state community. All players, makers, students, children, and community members are always welcome!

A meeting generally includes: meeting and mingling with other Native American Flute players, learning to play/ learning new techniques on the Native American Flute from other players or provided resources. But most of all, the opportunity to create, be, and listen to our internal songs! Plenty of flutes, ranging from wood to PVC pipe, and percussive instruments will be available.

Refreshments are provided.

TSNAFC has given free workshops and performed for consumers at Cabell Wayne Association of the Blind in Huntington, Honor Band and FluteWorks participants at Marshall University. The flute circle has also performed for WV's Governor Joe Manchin at the Weed and Seed program at the Barnett Center in Huntington, Earth Day 2009. The Tri-State Native American Flute Circle has also co-organized a free workshop in Elkins, WV, home of our sister circle: West Virginia Native American Flute Circle, featuring our good friends, and recording artists Ron Warren and Janice Torres.

Thanks for visiting our blog- follow us! Keep checking back for updates, photos, videos (maybe, if i can get that to work, hehe..), fund-raising, links for resources, and festivals/ workshops!

Take care!
